Pharaohs, Temples & Nile Cruise Journey

This 7-day itinerary combines Cairo's most famous landmarks with a classic Nile Cruise experience between Aswan and Luxor, creating a well-balanced route that follows the natural flow of Upper Egypt. Rather than constantly changing hotels, you'll spend your first two nights in Cairo at Steigenberger Hotel Tahrir before flying to Aswan, where your Nile Cruise adventure begins aboard the Jaz Crown Prince Nile Cruise.

The journey starts with the iconic monuments of Giza and the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), then continues south to Aswan, where you'll board your floating hotel and begin sailing north along the Nile. Along the way, you'll visit Philae Temple, the High Dam, Kom Ombo Temple, Edfu Temple, Karnak Temple, Luxor Temple, and the royal tombs of the Valley of the Kings before returning to Cairo for your final night.

Tour Plan

Arrival in Cairo

Upon landing at Cairo International Airport, an Magic Egypt Tours representative will be waiting inside the arrivals hall holding an Magic Egypt Tours sign.

After assistance with baggage collection and airport formalities, you'll be escorted to a private air-conditioned vehicle for the transfer into downtown Cairo. During the journey, your representative will provide an overview of the upcoming itinerary and answer any questions about your stay.

Once you arrive at Steigenberger Hotel Tahrir, check-in procedures will be completed, leaving the rest of the day free to relax and recover from your flight.

Giza Pyramids, Sphinx & Grand Egyptian Museum

After breakfast, you will meet your Egyptologist guide at your hotel before transferring by private air-conditioned vehicle to the Giza Plateau.

Begin your visit at the Great Pyramids of Giza, where you will see the three main pyramids: the Great Pyramid of Khufu, the largest and only surviving Wonder of the Ancient World; the Pyramid of Khafre, recognizable by the remaining casing stones near its summit; and the Pyramid of Menkaure, the smallest of the three main pyramids.

You will then continue to the Valley Temple of Khafre, an important part of the king's pyramid complex. Built from massive limestone blocks, it was associated with purification and funerary rituals connected with the king's burial.

A short distance away, you will visit the Great Sphinx, the iconic limestone monument with the body of a lion and the head of a king, traditionally associated with Pharaoh Khafre. You will have time for close exterior views and photographs.

Around midday, you will travel by private air-conditioned vehicle to a carefully selected local restaurant, where you will enjoy lunch before continuing your sightseeing.

After lunch, you will continue by private air-conditioned vehicle to the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM).

Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM)

Officially opened in November 2025, the Grand Egyptian Museum is dedicated to ancient Egyptian civilization from prehistory through the Greek and Roman periods. You will explore its galleries and discover thousands of artifacts spanning different periods of Egyptian history, including the Tutankhamun Galleries, which display more than 5,000 objects from the young king's tomb.

After completing your museum visit, you will return by private air-conditioned vehicle to your hotel and enjoy the remainder of the evening at leisure.

Helpful Hint: The panoramic viewpoint near the pyramids offers excellent opportunities to photograph all three pyramids in a single frame. Comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat are also recommended.

Fly to Aswan & Embark Nile Cruise

Your day begins with breakfast at your hotel, followed by a transfer in a private air-conditioned vehicle to Cairo International Airport for your domestic flight to Aswan.

Upon arrival in Aswan, you will be met by your Egyptologist guide and begin your sightseeing with a visit to the Aswan High Dam, one of Egypt's most important modern engineering projects. The dam transformed Egypt's management of the Nile by regulating its waters and helping control seasonal flooding.

You will then continue to the marina, where you will board a motorboat across the Nile to Philae Temple.

Philae Temple

Beautifully situated on Agilkia Island, Philae Temple is dedicated primarily to the goddess Isis and is renowned for its elegant architecture, detailed reliefs, and picturesque island setting. The temple complex was relocated as part of an international UNESCO-led campaign to protect it from the rising waters following the construction of the High Dam.

After completing your visit, you will return by motorboat to the marina and continue to the Jaz Crown Prince Nile Cruise for embarkation and check-in. You will settle into your cabin and have time to relax onboard.

Around midday, lunch will be served onboard, followed by free time to enjoy the cruise facilities and relax on deck while watching the changing scenery and traditional life along the Nile.

Helpful Hint: Keep your camera ready during the motorboat ride to Philae, as the approach to the island offers beautiful views of the temple and surrounding Nile landscape.

Kom Ombo & Edfu

 

After breakfast onboard, you will continue sailing north along the Nile toward Kom Ombo, enjoying the changing scenery and peaceful atmosphere from the cruise.

Upon arrival, you will disembark from the cruise and meet your Egyptologist guide before beginning your visit to Kom Ombo Temple.

Kom Ombo Temple

Uniquely dedicated to two gods, Sobek, the crocodile god, and Horus the Elder, Kom Ombo Temple stands directly beside the Nile and features a distinctive symmetrical layout. You will explore its impressive columns, carved reliefs, and beautiful riverside setting.

After completing your visit, you will return to the Nile Cruise and reboard the ship. The cruise will then continue sailing toward Edfu, while lunch is served onboard and you have time to relax and enjoy the Nile scenery.

Upon reaching Edfu, you will disembark from the cruise and board a traditional horse-drawn carriage for a short ride through the local streets to Edfu Temple.

Edfu Temple

Dedicated to the falcon-headed god Horus, Edfu Temple was built during the Ptolemaic Period and is one of the best-preserved ancient Egyptian temples. You will see its monumental pylons, detailed reliefs, and impressive temple halls.

Following your visit, your horse-drawn carriage will take you back to the cruise dock, where you will reboard the ship and settle back into your cabin.

The cruise will then continue sailing toward Luxor, allowing you to relax onboard and enjoy the remainder of the journey along the Nile.

Helpful Hint: Keep your camera ready during the horse-drawn carriage ride in Edfu, as the journey through the town offers a glimpse of local life.

Luxor East Bank

 

During the night, the Nile Cruise arrives in Luxor. After breakfast onboard, you will meet your Egyptologist guide and begin today's sightseeing on the East Bank, traveling by private air-conditioned vehicle.

Your first visit will be Karnak Temple, one of the largest and most impressive temple complexes in ancient Egypt. Developed over many centuries by successive pharaohs, the complex is famous for its monumental pylons, vast ceremonial courtyards, towering columns, and the spectacular Great Hypostyle Hall.

You will then continue by private air-conditioned vehicle to Luxor Temple, located in the heart of the modern city.

Luxor Temple

Built mainly during the New Kingdom and expanded by rulers including Amenhotep III and Ramesses II, Luxor Temple was closely connected with ancient royal ceremonies and the annual Opet Festival. You will explore its monumental entrance, massive columns, statues, and beautifully preserved reliefs.

After completing your morning visits, you will return by private air-conditioned vehicle to the cruise ship, where lunch will be served onboard.

Luxor West Bank & Return to Cairo

After breakfast onboard, you will disembark from the Nile Cruise and meet your Egyptologist guide before beginning today's sightseeing on Luxor's West Bank. You will travel by private air-conditioned vehicle between the archaeological sites.

Your first visit will be the Valley of the Kings, where generations of New Kingdom pharaohs created elaborate tombs hidden within the desert hills. You will have the opportunity to enter selected tombs and admire their colorful wall paintings, hieroglyphs, and funerary scenes.

You will then continue by private air-conditioned vehicle to the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, whose distinctive terraces rise dramatically against the cliffs of Deir El Bahari.

Temple of Queen Hatshepsut

Built during the 18th Dynasty for Queen Hatshepsut, the temple is famous for its three monumental terraces, elegant colonnades, and beautifully preserved reliefs depicting scenes from her reign.

Before leaving Luxor's West Bank, you will make a short stop at the Colossi of Memnon, two enormous statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III that once stood before his vast mortuary temple and remain among the most recognizable monuments of the Theban Necropolis.

After completing your morning visits, you will travel by private air-conditioned vehicle to a carefully selected local restaurant, where you will enjoy lunch.

Following lunch, you will continue by private air-conditioned vehicle to Luxor International Airport for your domestic flight back to Cairo.
